A Texas Summer: Moody Gardens

I wanted to do something dun with Logan for his birthday, so we headed down to my old stompin' grounds in Galveston for a fun day at Moody Gardens. So that Logan would not be too bored with Mommy and Nana, I had cousin Adrienne come along.

We got off to a later start than I wanted; I wanted to have an early lunch at one of my favorite places. AS we drove along the beach, I could not get over how different it looked. I had only seen pictures of what hurricane Ike had done, but to see it upclose...the landscape was quite different then what I was used to. We ended up waiting for the ferry 45 minutes (seriously, on a Monday at 11?). So I was a little upset it took a while, but Logan had a good time on his first ferry ride, and Adrienne enjoyed it too. Once we got off we went straight to lunch. Mosquito Cafe was closed, so we went to my other choice, Sunflower Cafe.

Since we got off to a late start, we only had time for 1 pyramid, so I chose to go to the Rainforest, in hopes of seeing a friend that works there. I also had not been to the rainforest one in along time, and wanted to check it out. The kids had lots of fun walking around and seeing all the different animals (as did I!).

Because I was going to head west the next day, we left Galveston in time to be back to Beaumont for dinner; we had a big family celebration at Saltgrass for Logan's birthday (and because I wanted Saltgrass).

Crystal Beach looks so different

Even the island landscape looked different...lots of big trees gone
