Hunt Club Farms

(October 2011)

With Halloween approaching, I of course wanted to take Logan to the pumpkin farm to pick out a pumpkin or two. We went one Saturday after Little Gym (don't remember where Daddy was) to Virginia Beach to a popular attraction for this time of year, Hunt Club Farms. I know they do stuff year round, but Halloween is their specialty. They have haunted houses and mazes at night, hay rides, pony rides, food, petting zoo, and of course, pumpkins. I had my agenda: petting zoo, hay ride, pony ride, pick out pumpkins. The only thing I didn't like about this place was that we did not go out into the field and pick our pumpkins, but the one we went to his first fall is over an hour away, and I didn't feel up to the drive.

We got to HCF at a decent time; I wanted to beat the crowds. Our first stop was the petting zoo, where Logan made friends with some goats (though he was mad at them for eating all the food so quickly). He then discovered the big pile of hay, which I was able to get a couple of pictures (he also decided to get a snotty nose this day). He enjoyed sitting on the old tractor, though not a fan of taking pictures. He of course had to ride a pony, since that was his thing since horseback riding; he thought the horse was a baby since it wasn't as big as his last ride. Lastly, we went on the hay ride. We had a good time sitting in the hay as we rode around the farm. HCF is also an equestrian center (woo-hoo!) and there were some competitions going on, so he enjoyed seeing the horses, I enjoyed watching the jumpers.

After all of the activities, it was time to pick out pumpkins. Logan picked one out for himself, me and Daddy. He also wanted some flowers- fall mums- so I grabbed a couple of those as well. It was a good thing we brought the wagon to walk around with for the day, because I had that thing packed going back to the car, and was carrying Logan (good workout!). He passed out on the way home; it was a fun day with Mommy.
