Saturday night I decided not to got to Easter Vigil Mass, because it is 2 hours long, and I knew Logan would not last (and since it didn't start until 7 I didn't think I would either). So Logan and I dyed Easter eggs and baked Easter cookies instead. He had fun, and I think I had just as much fun as he did (and I have pictures but they are on my iPad and I don't know how to get them on here...)
Easter Sunday we went to mass with my parents. Now Logan has never stayed through a church service, except Christmas Eve- because he fell asleep. About 15 minutes into mass, I decided to take him to the cry room, which was jammed packed. However, I didn't stay in there for about 15 minutes. For one, it was stuffy. But mostly, there were kids in there just doing whatever, so Logan was picking up some bad habits (he is a monkey see, monkey do type of boy). So we went and sat with my mom until communion was over, and I took him outside to get some pictures. There was an Easter egg hunt following mass, and he was excited about that. Now once the hunt started (not hunt, since the eggs were just scattered in a roped off area for his age group), Logan's excitement got the better of him. He set his bucket down, would walk to an egg, pick it up, open it, yell "Candy!" and put it in his bucket. He did this 6 more times. I was fine with it really because he didn't need lots of candy. The rest of Easter Sunday went like many I remember from childhood; family at Memaw's, lots of good food, and the kids playing. It was so nice to be home for Easter- the first time in 5 years
Monday, Logan and I headed to College Station to hang out with Khyle & Cayson. Our first stop? Chuy's! This pregnant girl wanted some good Tex-Mex, so Khyle called in our order and I picked it up on the way to her house. Oh it was yummy! The rest of the afternoon was spent catching up, relaxing and letting the boys play. Logan got to feed Honey the horse and apple, and had a great time playing on Cayson's John Deere toy tractor( so much so he ran the battery down, which was good, because I didn't know how I was going to get him off of it). Tuesday, Logan & I joined them at her mom's group play date at a park before driving back. Logan had fun playing with all the kids. We left to go back to Memaw's, and on the way I got to do something I have always wanted to do- take pictures of Logan in bluebonnets! I didn't expect to see so many good patches, but I got lucky and found one off the road (I wasn't going to stop on the highway). Logan wasn't as thrilled or cooperative, but I didn't care; I still managed to get some pics (he just wanted to pick the flowers)
Wednesday Logan and I headed to Houston (Katy) to stay with Jaime and her girls (I finally got to meet the twins!), and to have a meet up with Heather later that evening. First stop before Jaime's? Yup, Chuy's to go again (hey I had to get it while I could). I was so exited to see Jaime, and her precious little angels! Logan wasn't too sure about the girls, but he enjoyed their toys. Later on we grabbed dinner at Chick-Fil-A and met Heather and Sophia at a park. It was a very nice park, and of course the kids were more interested in playing than eating. Logan and Sophia ran around and had a great time playing, while the mommies visited (and tried to keep up when one would run off). I think Logan and Sophia slept very well that night.
Thursday was the day we headed back east, but no before lunch at PF Changs with my 3 favorite girls (Heather, Jaime, Khyle). What I didn't know was that my amazing friends were sneaky and gave me a surprise baby shower at lunch! Have I mentioned how much I love these girls?!? They gave my baby boy some wonderful gift, and even had a cookie cake- oh yummy!!! I was so sad to say good bye, and yes, I cried in the airport, and on the plane.
It was a wonderful week in Texas, and a much needed break!
