I didn't want to spend my last day of vacation lounging around, so Steph was kind enough to drop Logan and I off at the train station for another trip to Heidelberg. I wanted to get a few more souvenirs, and there were some other things I wanted to see. There of course were some churches, and a bridge I had overlooked from the last trip. I also wanted to relax one more time at a sidewalk cafe =) Today also happened to be the Royal Wedding, and though I was not crazy obsessed with it, I did sit down at Hard Rock Cafe so Logan could eat lunch- and I could watch some of the wedding. I just wanted to see her dress, and see part of history.
We came just in time again for Brian to pick us up. Logan played with the dogs some while I finished packing. The other Steph was coming to pick us up to stay at their house, since she was taking us to the airport Saturday morning. She came by around 830; Logan had gone to bed and the Wingos and I were just doing last minute catching up. I hated to say good bye to them again, knowing I WILL see them again, but still sucks to leave great friends.
Logan of course woke and Stephanie tried to get him down while I showered. It was after 1030 before I laid down, and much later before falling asleep. Sucky part was that we were to get up at 230am Saturday(so 830 pm Friday night here in VA)so that we could leave by 315 to make the hour + drive to Frankfurt. Our flight left at 7... So on very little sleep we made our way to the airport; Logan was awake most of the drive. I again said good bye to an awesome friend (and even more awesome fro driving me so early). What a loooong day we had in store.
We left Frankfurt on time, a bit after 7 am (1 am VA time) and flew to Amsterdam. I did not like it here, because they confiscated a bottle of wine I had bought in duty free in Frankfort. I was so tired I cried....anyway, from Amsterdam, we flew to Boston. I think we left around 1030 or 11....we landed in Boston around 130-2 ET. It was a 7 hour flight. Logan again did really well, though this was a much more crowded flight; he slept about 2 hours. Boston was a nice airport, though LOTS of walking. They had a nice play area though so Logan entertained himself before we had to catch our last flight back to VA. We landed in Norfolk at 515. I was so unbelievably exhausted. Joel was waiting for us and we went to Chik Fil A, but I was so out of it, I couldn't eat. I had been up for 21 hours, after only sleeping for less than 3. Joel was ever so kind to let me sleep in on Sunday.
It was a wonderful spring break, and the only downside was that Joel was not able to come with us. I am so glad I got to share this experience with Logan, and though he will never remember it, I have a few pictures to show him. Thank you Brian & Steph, and Nick & Stephanie, for a wonderful week. Love and miss you muchos!
