November 11th, a day of thanks

Home of the free, because of the brave

A Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and including, their life This is something I saw on several statuses on Facebook today. Along with many others. It is so nice to see so many give thanks to those who have given all to this country.

I think back to high school when we celebrated Veterans Day. It was a big to-do and I remember feeling a sense of pride each year. I think it was because my grandfather, an Army Korean War vet, was very proud of this country. And maybe because one day I would be married to the military. Today is a day that I don't have to think about what to be thankful for. Its the same thing that million of Americans are thankful for: freedom because of those who have fought for this country, who are fighting today, and those that will in the future. I am thankful to both my grandfathers, Pepaw, an Army Korean War Vet, and PawPaw, a Marine. My amazing husband, whom I am very proud of. And all my friends who are serving our country. And though its not exactly the same, our first responders too.

Much gratitude to our men and women of the Armed Forces, and to the families left to take care of things at home. God bless our troops, and this country.

(and I am thankful that the wreck we were in was minor, all parties ok, and Logan was not with us)

(And I left out day 10: Thankful that I was able to keep my cool in the hour and a half it took me to get home. Traffic is the one thing that really gets to me, and sitting in it for that long, starving with a full bladder, and missing time with my monkey, can really set me off. I am also thankful I put gas in my car earlier that day)
