Sacrifice

We all make sacrifices; for work, for family, for the ones we love. For some reason, this hit me hard this week. I don't know why. As I began the new job this week, I wondered what was I giving up. Now I am not saying I want my old job, not AT ALL. But again, it all comes down to finances. The past year, I sacrificed my time with with my son, who is my everything, for a job. Now I am sacrificing financial comfort for my son. But I know its worth it. But there are other things that make me think. I know of many who sacrifice much more. I recently connected with an old friend from high school. She is married to the Navy and has 2 little girls. Daddy has yet to meet the youngest, who is 3 months, as he is sacrificing his time with them for our country. Wow. She is an inspiration. She is not alone. There are thousands of families sacrificing for our country. And some of them sacrifice their life. I am proud to be a military wife, and even more proud of my husband. He left yesterday for a 2-week training. Now he has been gone so much in the last 3 years it wasn't a big deal for me. But he left before Logan woke, and later in the day, Logan was going around looking and calling for Dada. He knows that Daddy is not home. I know I will be teaching kids who have parents deployed. Joel's last unit gave Logan a special award, or certificate, stating that Logan should be proud of his Daddy, and apologizing for him not being around much. I thought that was pretty cool. I just want to thank the men and women fighting for our country, to the husbands and wives left to fight on the home front, and for all the children who have mommies and daddies sacrificing their lives for us.
