I wouldn't call my flying experience yesterday all 'friendly', but it could have been much worse. It went very well for me flying alone with a 14 month old and all our carry-on stuff, on 2 almost full flights, and a 45 minute delay. I have flown several times, and am amazed at what I see. Had I not been fighting a squirming 21-pound monster, I would have taken some pictures to illustrate this.
I have 2 favorite time to fly, early early morning, or evening. Why? Because it is the most beautiful times of day, and I have the best view. I have flown a couple times where I took off before sunrise. What an amazing way to start the day! Have you ever seen a sunrise at 36,000 feet? It breathtaking! Its so peaceful, and just relaxing. Evening is another wonderful time to fly. Watching the sun set and finding the first stars in the dusk is so surreal. I am just in awe of the simple beauty found so high up. I can feel God's presence. I know that might seem weird, but its part of his creation I don't see on a daily basis.
Something else that mesmorizes me at 36000 feet are thunderstorms. Now these are simple but amazing entertainment. Watching the lightening dance through the clouds gives you a sense of power. Its humbling. As we came into land yesterday the clouds were like big cotton balls that I swear I could just reach out and touch.
And so, my recommendation to you: fly when you can see the sun rise or set. You will be glad you did
