Oh what do you say?

"But what do you say in a moment like this? When you can't find the words to tell it like it is. Just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way, Oh what do you say?"

Those words from Reba's song went through my head twice over the weekend, on two separate occasions. One rang more true than the other, I guess because one of those moments involved someone who is a dear friend. We have all had those moments when words fail us, and we give the cliche "I'm sorry". Why is that the response? I am guilty, I said it too. And it felt like a lame response. Words failed me. What do you say in a moment like this? I didn't know what to say. My heart was aching for my friend, and I could do nothing. I know what I say is the same thing she hears from everyone else: "I'm sorry." "Things will be fine."I know that has to be tiring, to hear the same thing. How do I know things will be fine? That they will turn out right? I don't. Just have faith? Easier said then done. I love my friends. And when they hurt, so do I. I don't have all the answers or solutions, and its not like I want to. I guess just comfort and support, and lending an ear or shoulder is all I can do in these situations. I can't make things better. But I can be there to go on the journey; give a hug, shed tears, send love and prayers. But what do you say?
