We have a house! Its something I have been stressing over since finding out we were stuck in VA. I had some friends drive Logan and I around Suffolk on Saturday, and fell in love with the area. It is so beautiful and very country. Of course Joel changed his mind, and decide Chesapeake would be better. I was not happy. And I did not like Chesapeake. It is busy, crowded, and not as pretty.
The joys of house hunting for me comes when I asked people about the pet policy. Some cringe when I say I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. But I wouldn't have it any other way (Joel might though). So we drove out to look at a house on the 18th (which is the date is ironic, as I will explain later). It was in a quieter part of Chesapeake. I fell in love with the kitchen, which, lets face it, I gotta have a good kitchen. The house is smaller, by about 400 square feet, then the one we are in now. But it has the awesome kitchen, a sun room which will be great for the cats, good price, and what seems like a great neighborhood. To top it off, the owners are super nice. He is in the Marines, and they have a 1 year old son. She was so excited when I told her we would take it. It made me feel good that she said "We want y'all to move in with that cute little boy and bring all our pets". I think its meant to be....So one less stressful thing!
Now about that date...I came home Tuesday to find a message on the machine from a realtor wanting to show our current house. WHAT??? uh, I knew we had said we would vacate, but I had no clue our house was on the market. So I called her back. The family wanted to move in like this week, and I said it wasn't happening, cause we won't be out til June 30th. I also informed her my house is not presentable. Husband TDY, been outta town, I needed time to clean. SHe was very nice and understanding. So it wasn't going to work for the family she was helping, but she explained to me how things worked. The house is listed with a property manager and a real estate company; she does not work for them. A we talk, she is shocked no one has contatced us. I mean I knew it would go up on the market, but I expected a notice. As I googled our address, I discovered it was put up on the 18th. Also in talking to this nice lady she informed me that it was MY number listed, both home and then an odd combo of work and cell. So not only did they not tell us it was on the market, but gave our number without asking, and not checking to make sure they gave out he correct one. And she said to look for a lock box, which I did not see, which is a VERY good thing. So yeah, I am a little pissed off. And of course Joel is gone during all this... But I will have some nice words for the property manager and company AFTER we move out and get our deposit back
