Christmas In Texas

So I know it will take me forever to get pics up, so I am at least going to tell about our adventures. Pictures will have to come later.

And its about a week later that I am working on this....seriously, I need more hours in the day, or at least a way to freeze time.

WE were hoping to get away on Friday by 3, or no later than 4. Well Joel didn't get home til 6, so it was more like 630 before we headed to his parents in NC. We stopped for Chik Fil A and headed south. Got to his folks bout 1115. I was tired and Logan was asleep. Well after a bath and the grandparents playing, he was not ready to sleep. Needless to say it was not a good nights sleep, and instead of leaving at 630-7am like I wanted to, Joel slept til 7 ( I was up at 6 ready to go) and we left at 8. First 4 hours of the drive it rained-and Logan slept. Rest was not bad. Made it to Memaw's in Lumberton at 130am. I was so happy to see her.

Sunday was a lazy day, though we took a quick trip to the big city of Kirbyville to get my wonderful Christmas cards, and eat at the popular Jenny's Fried Chicken. Then home to nap.

Monday was our day in Houston. WE drove to our friend's in Katy, and the boys went and did their thing, and Jaime and I went to pick up Heather for lunch. And what do us girls like the most? Mexican! Like I was going to argue that??? We went to Casa Ole and I a really great visit. Good food, and GREAT comapny-love these girls! Heather had to go back to work, and Jaime and I went back to Katy. I wanted to take Logan to Bass Pro to see Santa before dinner, which was really just a waste of time. He didn't want to get out of mine or Joel's arms. What is it with toddlers & Santa? Later that evening, the 3 couple's met for dinner at my favorite place, Taste of Texas. I wanted to eat there for my birthday, and what better way to celebrate than with my wonderful friends? Logan was a tad difficult, but it was still a wonderful evening. I miss my friends so much, but it make the times we have together even more special. Thank you for celebrating with me!

Tuesday was a day in Aggieland. Logan has only been once, and it was too hot to take him around campus. Well this day, even though it was December 21st, it was 82 degrees, and perfect for a tour of the Alumni Center, and of course, Kyle Field! Didn't walk around too much, as someone was very fussy. It was great to be 'home'! We first met Cayson and his parents for lunch and yummy Wings n More. I wanted chicken fingers. Went back to his house for some running around, playing with critters, and enjoying the sun and warmth. Logan started off in jeans, but Cayson lent him a pair of shorts (also because something happened to the jeans....) It was a wonderful afternoon with more great friends!

Wednesday was a lazy day; took the car in because of indicator lights, and donated blood for someone I knew. It felt really good to do it too.

Thursday Logan and I had lunch with another wonderful friend, and her little boy. Later sister and her fiance came in, and later that night we had pizza and cake for my birthday. It was so nice to celebrate with my family and cousins!

Christmas Eve morning Logan opened gifts from his Aunt Bunny, and boy did he make out good! Rest of the day was just relaxing, cooking, and then mass with the family. After mass I cooked dinner for Memaw andmy aunts, then went to my Pawpaw's for a bit. Afterwards I started a new tradition with Logan- making sugar cookies! He enjoyed making them for a bit; eating them was much more fun.

Christmas day was the usual busy, crazy day with all the family. But I wouldn't have it any other way. It was an emotional day, our first Christmas without Pepaw, and Uncle Tim. Food was delicious, and having all her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids helped I am sure. The evening was capped off with a visit to my mom's side, and then the Cowboys game (not the highlight of that day at all....)

Sunday was a super lazy day. We had thought about driving back to VA, but a forecasted blizzard (and 14 inches is alot!) made us decide to stay, which allowed us to go celebrate Caden's 1st birthday! It was great to see the Flukers, and so many other friends from high school.

Monday we left at 630 and headed back east, getting home Tuesday at 6 (stopped again at the inlaws, celebrated Christmas) to a whole lotta snow.

It was a wonderful Christmas, and the last one we will spend in Texas, least for a while. Logan will be 2 1/2 next year, and I want to be able to open presents and celebrate at home.

Picture post to come later......
